Job Description
Position Overview
Starting Salary Range is $48,006 - $54,017. The initial salary offer is commensurate with education and related work experience.
Under the guidance and direction of the Executive Director and Directors, the Locksmith performs skilled and complicated maintenance tasks in the Locksmithing field.Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Master and interpret keying guides/ schedules; use knowledge of how locks work to interpret and preserve the integrity of an individual’s or organization’s master key system
- Perform skilled locksmithing tasks, including door closures, automatic doors, Install, repair, change, and service locks and securities of all types as may be demanded by the individual or organization
- Replace or service worn out components of a door security system, including the lock, tumblers, springs, and other important parts.
- Construct or duplicate keys from existing ones, patterns, and codes
- Service, troubleshoot and repair “panic” hardware on security doors, have low voltage experience
- Ability to read, interpret, and follow basic maintenance procedures of various locks
- Assist in the estimating of materials required for construction projects and other materials.
Additional Duties & Responsibilities
- Move furniture to set up classrooms and/or shop facilities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.)
- Two (2) years of demonstrated abilities in Locksmithing trade
- Knowledge of practices, procedures, techniques, tools and equipment, materials, specifications, quality control, cost control, and safety
- Must have mathematical skills and analytical skills to do estimates
- Must be computer literate
- Must be able to understand verbal and written instructions
- Adept at establishing relationships with all parties involved in the construction process that facilitate harmonious working relations during projects, and permit prompt resolution of problems and conflicts as they occur
- Must be familiar with and work within industry safety requirements for tools, equipment, and use of personal protective equipment
- Must be able to read and use MEP blueprints and system diagrams
- Must have a valid Texas driver’s license
- Must be able to push, pull, lift, and/or carry loads of eighty (80) pounds for fifty (50) feet or more on a frequent basis
- Ability to climb ladders up to sixty (60) feet and crawl for distances of fifty (50) feet Must be able to work from ladders, boom trucks, or man lift
- Must be able to stand, sit, kneel, squat, bend, stoop, twist, walk, grasp/squeeze for long periods of time
- Must be able to work in hot, humid, wet, and/or cold conditions as warranted
- Able to work individually and/or in a team environment with minimal supervision
- Must be customer focused; continually improving on customer service
- Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
