Southeastern Louisiana University's Department of Biological Sciences invites applications for the position of Postdoctoral Research Scientist. The Postdoctoral Research Scientist will gather and analyze temporal and spatial fisheries from Lake Maurepas, a slightly saline lake on the upper end of the Lake Pontchartrain estuary. The Postdoctoral Research Scientist will work with the Project Director to participate in a fisheries biomonitoring program. The position will be required to conduct fieldwork, gather and summarize fisheries data collection, data analysis, write reports, give presentations, and publish manuscripts based on this work. This position will require significant physical exertion (carrying 50 or more pounds) and candidates must be able to work in extreme weather, as well as long days with possible nights and weekends.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
PhD or ABD (all but dissertation) in Fisheries, Natural Resources, Biology, Zoology or a related field by hire date.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preference will be given to those with expertise in stock assessment.
Strong quantitative skills and a record of course work in fisheries biology/ecology and statistics as applied to fisheries.

DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS
Experience collecting fisheries data using standard sampling gear, including gill nets, trawls, and boat electrofishing.
Organized, self-motivated, and have strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a research team.
