Moishe (pronounced moy-shuh) House is what being Jewish in your 20s is all about. Launched in 2006 when four friends began hosting Shabbat dinners in their home, Moishe House provides a space for over 70,000 young adults around the world to create meaningful, welcoming Jewish communities for themselves and their peers each year. To date, there are more than 150 communities in over 40 countries, and we’re still growing!
Moishe House seeks a highly skilled and experienced Vice President, Human Resources (VPHR). The VPHR provides strategic leadership and support for all areas of Human Resources and Risk Management, including benefits and retirement, compensation, talent acquisition and retention, employee relations, performance management, learning and organizational development, HRIS management, program risk management, and compliance. The VPHR serves on the Senior Management Team and reports to the Chief Operating Officer. The preferred start date is June 20, 2024.

- You have a deep and comprehensive knowledge of nonprofit business operations, with specific skill and focus on Human Resources (Employee Relations, Coaching, Communications, Performance Management, Compensation, Benefits) and Risk Management.
- You'll provide Human Resources and Risk Management leadership through:
- Executing Moishe House’s human resources strategy to support our overall business goals and objectives.
- Driving and continuing to build the Moishe House employee culture and our DEI initiatives throughout the organization.
- Providing oversight for organization-wide HR-related initiatives, partnering with all levels and departments throughout the organization.
- Collaborating with the Senior Management Team to analyze and prioritize the critical business challenges faced by the organization, and deploy appropriate HR interventions.
- Facilitating analysis of employee engagement and personnel data and leading problem-solving efforts to develop strategies.
- Consulting with organizational leaders on coaching and developing their teams, adapting organizational structure, and responding to concerns.
- You'll lead the Human Resources Team through:
- Providing direct supervision, training, development, coaching, ongoing feedback, and performance management for a high performing team of HR professionals (HR Business Partner and Recruiter).
- Leveraging strengths of the current team and outsourced teams (e.g., PEOs, insurance brokers) to fully support all HR initiatives.
- Strengthening internal communications and collaborations among staff at all levels throughout the organization.
- Taking responsibility for strategic, operational, and fiscal management of the department.
- You have a Bachelor's degree, preferably in Human Resources, Nonprofit Management, or another related field, and have a minimum of 10 years’ full time professional experience with all facets of Human Resources, ideally beginning as an individual contributor in Human Resources, followed by increasing responsibility through experience gained in the field.
- You have extensive experience in coaching and leading others.
- You have a minimum of 7 years' experience building, leading, and developing a team of full-time HR professionals, preferably within a nonprofit or government entity.
- You have keen analytic and problem-solving skills which allow for strategic data interpretation.
- You have strong interpersonal and communication skills, with experience in effectively developing, communicating, and leading organization-wide key initiatives, including presentations to senior management, board members, or other outside partners.
- You are eligible to work in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.

The Fine Print:
The Vice President, Human Resources, is a full-time, exempt, year-round position, and requires weekday office hours to complete job requirements. This position works in one of our U.S. Hub offices (Encinitas, Chicago, New York, Washington, D.C., or Charlotte) on a hybrid schedule, and is supervised by the Chief Operations Officer. Priority will be given to candidates currently living in one of the Hub cities.
Our team works a hybrid schedule in one of our U.S. Hub Offices, where employees can choose to work remotely 2 days per week and collaborate in-person with coworkers the rest of the week.
Moishe House requires “full vaccination” for all staff to travel, work in offices, and participate in any Moishe House group gatherings. We use the CDC’s definition of “full vaccination” as the standard, with variations based on country as needed.

How Moishe House Pays You:
Moishe House’s starting salary ranges are based on education, experience, location, and skillset required for each role.
- The starting salary range for this full-time exempt position is:
- Charlotte, NC: $125,000
- Chicago, IL or Encinitas, CA: $130,000
- NYC or D.C.: $140,000
- Annual merit-based salary increase
