Responsibilities:
As a core teaching faculty member, this position will be responsible for educating future leaders in addiction counseling to improve treatment and recovery from alcohol and drug dependence. This position may have responsibilities in residential and/or online programs. This position innovates and continuously improves key education processes based on educational research, internal assessment data, and academic expertise, so that course offerings, teaching strategies and curriculum development demonstrate improved achievement of learning outcomes.
  • Teach and revise course content to ensure optimum learning outcomes
  • Provide supervision necessary to promote acquisition of incremental student competency through clinical laboratory and internship experiences
  • Provide academic advising and coaching in order to promote successful scholastic adjustment and school performance
  • Continually seek and demonstrate knowledge in higher learning and the field of recovery in order to facilitate the development of expertise in students and other professionals
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications
  • Doctorate in Counseling, Psychology, Education or closely related field
  • Minimum of one year experience substance abuse prevention and treatment or related field
  • Teaching, lecturing, training, and/or education experience
  • Prior experience in higher learning
  • Competency in PC applications Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Current professional license, i.e., counseling, social work, psychology
  • Knowledge of current educational technology tools
  • Experience designing and teaching online graduate courses
  • Experience utilizing backwards course design
