Visiting Accounting Faculty Position

Job Description

Ottawa University Kansas Campus (OUKS) invites candidates for a full-time, 9-month Visiting Accounting Faculty position. The successful candidate will teach a broad range of courses at the undergraduate and potentially graduate levels in the accounting program with a focus on all levels of financial and managerial accounting. Additional responsibilities may include courses within the Angell Snyder School of Business via hybrid or online modalities. Responsible for providing high-quality and engaging instruction and academic mentoring to students; developing, assessing, and assuring excellent pedagogy and curriculum design, both within the discipline and in contributions to the Liberal Arts core program; promoting student achievement and academic integrity on behalf of the University; collaboration with support services provided through units such as the Adawe Academic Advising Center; and academic program development for currency, growth, retention, and recruitment.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Teaching

  • Teaching Load: Teaching a full-time course load, defined as eight (8) courses per year, four courses per semester, or the equivalent of 24 credit hours per year (12 credit hours per semester). Load definitions for courses involving laboratory instruction, supervision of experiential learning, or other variations from the traditional lecture/seminar format are determined in consultation with the Dean of the Angell Snyder School of Business. Course load primarily consists of undergraduate accounting courses.

REQUIRED EDUCATION: 
(education based on essential job duties and requirements consistent with business necessity): Earned Doctorate preferred. Master’s Degree in Accounting, CPA required. Earned Doctorate preferred.

 


REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: (
experience based on requirements in role and are consistent with business necessity)
Three years higher education experience, preferably in a residential campus, liberal arts setting is preferred.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with fellow university faculty as well as departments who support student life and academic achievement.
  • Proven ability to teach effectively in a post secondary classroom;
  • Ability to be flexible in adjusting to and responding to both student and local university needs and concerns; and
  • Proven interpersonal and communication skills.
