A Postdoctoral Fellowship position is available in the Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). We are seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic, and creative candidate who is interested in research into cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying pathological pain conditions. The candidate will be expected to know or willing to learn multidisciplinary approaches including electrophysiology, immunohistochemistry, molecular biology, and animal behavioral assessment to conduct pain research. Qualified candidates with a recent PhD degree in biomedical field and experience in sensory physiology and/or pain research will be given top priority. The successful applicant would be expected to develop an independent research agenda leading to extramural funding, and ideally toward complete independence in 3-5 years of training. The Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine stresses excellence in research.
