Job Description
PROGRAM COORDINATOR, MITES SUMMER, MIT Introduction to Technology, Engineering, and Science (MITES), to coordinate and perform day-to-day operational activities. This includes developing, implementing, and monitoring project plans for logistics, program events, related meetings, and orientations (virtual, hybrid, and in-person experiences); contributing to student and staff recruitment, application, and selection; communicating with current and prospective participants (4000+) and a broad range of affiliated stakeholders; coordinating student/staff onboarding; maintaining sensitive information; coordinating vendors and purchasing materials and supplies; handling unexpected needs and issues; and guiding the work of others (e.g., temporary staff/interns) on routine activities. Will also contribute to and attend additional MITES program, alumni, and fundraising events; reside on MIT’s campus during residential components of the program (~six weeks); and uphold Institute policies on working with minors.
Job Requirements:REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree and at least two years’ administrative and/or project/program management experience. PREFERRED: meticulous attention to detail; strong analytical, problem-solving, leadership, facilitation, interpersonal, presentation, and oral and written communication skills; ability to collaborate as part of a team with diverse backgrounds and skill sets; flexibility and ability to adapt in a fast-paced, rapidly changing work environment; ability multitask, remain organized, and manage time and deadlines; good judgment with confidential information; demonstrated good decision-making; support for MIT’s commitment to diversity and serving diverse constituents; experience with high school students and families; written and oral Spanish language skills; proficiency with Microsoft Office (e.g., Excel) and cloud-based collaboration tools like Google Drive, Microsoft SharePoint, and Dropbox; working knowledge of social media (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn) and email marketing platforms (e.g., Constant Contact, Mail Chimp); and MIT experience. Must be able to work a varied hybrid schedule (in the office two days, remote three days), with some evening and weekend hours, and live on campus during program conferences.
