Job Summary
The School of Marketing, Analytics, and Design invites applications for a full-time (1.00 FTE), 9-month, tenure-track/tenured (annual) Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor position.

Position responsibilities include but are not limited to establishing and maintaining a strong program of research resulting in peer-reviewed publications, teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses, and providing service to the college, university, and academic discipline. Service requirements are greater at the Associate and Full Professor ranks. To be considered for appointment at the Associate Professor, candidates must have sufficient experience and qualifications for promotion in accordance with University guidelines, including a demonstrated record of research of acceptable dimension that works toward distinction in scholarship. To be considered for appointment at the Full Professor rank, candidates must additionally demonstrate that they have achieved distinction in research, teaching, and service in accordance with University guidelines.

The School of Marketing, Analytics and Design (MAD) offers majors in Marketing and Business Analytics, as well as four different Design majors: Design and Innovation Management (DIM), Apparel Design, Interior Design, and Merchandising Management. The Business Analytics program is one of the fastest growing majors in the College of Business and the program continues to attract students at the undergraduate and graduate (Master’s) levels.
Oregon State University operates on a quarter system. College of Business research-active faculty members typically receive a research quarter and usually teach a total of five courses during two of three 10-week quarters of the academic year. The College of Business moved into Austin Hall in September 2014 and provides access to a dedicated research space and subject pool. Key Responsibilities
45% – Teaching:
  • Primary teaching duties include undergraduate and/or graduate courses in Business Analytics. Contribute to social justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion efforts; provide mentoring and opportunities for students from underrepresented groups; enable the advancement of diverse perspectives; and promote equitable outcomes among learners of diverse and underrepresented identity groups.

  • Demonstrated through the dissemination of research results, including but not limited to, peer-refereed scholarly journals.
 

10% – Service:
  • Engage in activities within the University and the profession, including contributing to the College and University strategic initiatives, particularly those that support DEI efforts and foster a more inclusive academic community.

What You Will Need
  • An appropriate earned doctorate from an AACSB International accredited university or an equivalent with an emphasis in information systems, computer science, information science, or a related field by the employment start date.
  • Evidence of, or potential and motivation for, research excellence and scholarly publication in leading peer-refereed journals.
  • Evidence of teaching effectiveness and commitment to excellence in inclusive teaching and student success.
  • Demonstrated commitment to educational equity in a multicultural setting and a commitment to advancing the participation of diverse groups and supporting diverse perspectives.

For the Associate and Full Professor rank, applicants must hold a similar rank with tenure with an appropriate record of research excellence in leading peer-reviewed journals.
For the Associate Professor rank, applicants must also show evidence of:
  • An appropriate record of scholarship, including scholarly publication in premier peer-refereed journals;
  • Sustained effectiveness in teaching, advising, service and other assigned duties.
  • Increasing leadership roles in institutional and professional service.
 
For the Full professor rank, applicants must show evidence of:
  • Distinction and sustained effectiveness in teaching, advising, service and other assigned duties, curricular development, awards and recognition;
  • Distinction in scholarship, as evidenced in scholarly publication in premier peer-refereed journals, including wide recognition and significant contributions to the field or profession;

What We Would Like You to Have
  • Research interests and/or publications in the areas of business analytics, human computer interaction, information analysis, IT strategy, social media, impact of IT.
  • Demonstrated experience and competence in teaching at the university level, especially in the areas of Business Programing, AI in Business, Business Analytics, Machine learning/Deep Learning, Social impact of AI.
  • Experience in teaching Master’s level courses.
  • Demonstrated ability and commitment to adopt an inclusive approach to teaching.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in scholarly pursuits.
  • Relevant professional non-academic work experience.
