Job Overview

The Biology Meets Engineering (BME) program at the University of Cincinnati (UC) is currently seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow to support a large STEM education research project funded by the National Science Foundation. The BME team includes faculty working in Biology, Engineering, and Education Research who together implement a transdisciplinary curriculum—at the intersection of robotics and sensory biology—in high school classrooms. The successful applicant will collaborate to conduct rigorous research on learners’ interest, self-efficacy, and inquiry skills in STEM through their participation in the program, to be disseminated through high-quality publication.

Essential Functions

Responsibilities of the postdoctoral fellow will include the following:

  • Administration of STEM self-efficacy, interest, and knowledge assessments across multiple sites;
  • Analysis of student survey and assessment data;
  • Supporting analysis of classroom implementation data;
  • Administering informed consent processes and managing data retention protocol;
  • Collaborating to write conference proposals and manuscripts, including leading some writing efforts

 


Minimum Requirements

  • Doctoral degree in STEM education, Educational Research Methods, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Strong skills in quantitative research methods, including multi-level modeling as shown by using such skills in at least one peer-reviewed publication, manuscript in progress or dissertation.
  • Demonstrated potential for successful scholarship, including demonstrated professional writing skills as shown by at least one peer-reviewed publication, manuscript in progress or dissertation.
  • Working knowledge of human subjects protections and IRB processes as shown by collaborating/contributing on at least one human subjects/IRB approved research project.
