Class Description
The purpose of this class is to provide holistic case management and support to an assigned student caseload in collaboration with academic departments.
Minimum Requirements
Master’s degree required, degree in education, counseling or a related field. Attainment of CareerCounselor certification from NCDA or department approved organizationwithin one (1) year of hire is required. Four (4) years of full-time work experience as an academic or career advisor, or in another student services field, preferably in a community college setting. Experience providing student case management to a diverse group of students in a collegiate setting is required.Evenings and weekends are required during peak registration periods.

- Provide holistic case management and evaluate students’ progress, develop strategic academic and career plans, and assist students with reaching desired academic, career, financial, and social goals.
- Provide guidance, or appropriate referrals to resources, toensure students have needed academic, career, financial, and social supportsby anticipating needs through consultative conversations.
- Supervise and evaluate assigned part-time staff, as required.
- Serve as a mentor to colleagues and ensure that they provide accurate information to students and document all student interactions and student information via CCBC systems.
- Coach students through navigating the college environment, culture, policies, practices, and technology.
- Contribute to individual, team, and unit goals to ensure student growth targets are met.
- Represent the department in outreach activities and serve on committees, as applicable.
- Plan and facilitate advisement-related presentations and training to faculty, staff and students.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to develop expertise in targeted advising approaches and best practices.

Position Specific Essential Duties
- Assist students in exploring their goals, interests, strengths, values, and concerns through positive and intentional advising strategies.
- Monitor student caseload reports/data to support student retention and recommend targeted interventions.
- Assist assigned students in planning and implementing their academic goals by providing comprehensive academic, career, and transfer advisement services.
- Collaborate with other staff members and faculty to develop a team-based approach that promotes the CCBC Pathways and fosters student success.
- Serve as lead member of students’ success team.
- Maintain consistent collaboration with the Office of Student Retention and Transition Services staff for development of proactive retention initiatives and early identification of intervention for at-risk students,
- Assist students at risk of failing to maintain academic progress in refining academic and career goals and developing strategies for success.
- Administer career assessments, interpret results and, when warranted, modify academic and career goals.
- Conduct college-wide outreach to assigned students to build relationships that foster engagement and retention.
- Actively engage in advising/career programs at CCBC and in professional associations as assigned.
- Serve on campus and college-wide committees as assigned.
