InstructionGeneral Summary
The Executive Assistant to the Vice President for Instruction reports to the Vice President of Instruction (VPI) and works closely with all members of the Instructional Leadership Team to advance the projects and initiatives in the division. The Executive Assistant to the Vice President for Instruction will: prepare correspondence and manage the VPI’s schedule; serve as a resource regarding policies and procedures; support the administrator in the efficient organization of the office; and be assigned special projects that advance the mission and vision of the college.
Specific Position Duties
- Supports the Vice President for Instruction to accomplish the College’s mission and goals.
- Supports the Vice President in leading effective Instructional leadership team meetings.
- Plans, manages, and directs the business of the Office of the Vice President for Instruction to maintain an atmosphere of a well-run, professional office while striving for excellence and continuous improvement.
- Coordinates and oversee office administrative duties while providing an extensive level of support to Vice President for Instruction and Associate Vice President for Instruction.
- Exercises independent judgment and initiative that reflect the Vice President for Instruction’s priorities.
- Assists the Vice President for Instruction in reviewing speeches, presentations, printed materials, etc. and offers suggestions related to correspondence and reports.
- Maintains electronic database of course curriculum, faculty teaching assignments, classroom scheduling as needed for publication of catalogs and course schedules and for compliance with requirements of the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.
- Assists the Human Resources office in collection and updating of faculty credentials.
- Oversees the Vice President for Instruction’s calendar and exercises independent judgment regarding scheduling appointments and commitments.
- Coordinates the Vice President for Instruction’s travel for college-related activities.
- Provides leadership and coordination in managing projects and initiatives.
- Plans and monitors, with the Vice President for Instruction, the budget line items of the department.
- Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited university.
- Strong oral and written communication skills;
- Strong computer skills within the Microsoft Suite.
- Ability to define problems, collect and interpret data; and effectively present information.
- Must be a self-starter who is also capable of working as an integral part of the Instructional Division.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree from a regionally accredited university;
- Previous experience in an academic setting.
