Job Description:
Reporting to the Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs, the Division Dean serves as an essential member of the Provost's team and provides strategic leadership for all departments assigned to the Dean's area. This position works under the broad administrative direction of the Provost, with significant responsibility for providing leadership in the development, expansion, revision, improvement, and maintenance of multiple quality education programs. The Division Dean is charged with aligning each department's vision to the strategic imperatives of the campus, and with building teamwork and synergy with and across divisions.
Essential Duties:
Provides student-centered strategic leadership and vision in the execution of the division's operational planning and continuous quality improvement processes. Collaborates with Department Chairs and Faculty to develop a Division Plan and department goals and objectives that are aligned with the Division Plan and the College's Strategic Plan.
Leads quality instruction, high impact pedagogy, and data-supported reform at scale across the division. Champions the division's learning outcomes assessment and continuous quality improvement programs. Ensures department procedures are followed with respect to classroom management and academic expectations, and encourages and supports faculty research and scholarship. Receives and addresses student grievances.
Fosters faculty and staff development, professional growth and enrichment opportunities, and encourages faculty to stay abreast of changes and trends in their academic fields, employment and transfer of program graduates, and employer needs, where appropriate.
Supervises the creation of the Division's course schedule by the Department Chairs in collaboration with the Coordinator of Scheduling; utilizes enrollment and fill rate data and other input to meet student demand.
In conjunction with the Department Chairs and Human Resources, helps to develop an adequate pool of qualified adjunct faculty to meet the departments' needs.
Provides entrepreneurial leadership for the development of new programs, the evaluation of existing programs, and manages the program closure process. Monitors programs to ensure compliance with applicable accrediting bodies. Ensure that the division is compliant with college, federal, state, and local regulations.
Provides guidance and supervises division faculty, academic professionals, classified staff, technical/support, and/or student staff. Hires, evaluates, trains, disciplines and recommends dismissal of employees as necessary in consultation with Human Resources. The Dean is responsible for assigning workload (in compliance with the relevant collective bargaining agreement), and for the approval and assignment of adjunct faculty contracts.
Serves on the Provost's Academic Council, Dean's Council, and Academic Affairs Council. Advocates for the division and promotes student-centered interdepartmental synergy and teamwork. Liaises with Student Affairs to ensure the alignment of intake, advisement, counseling, financial aid, records, student life, and transfer services with the Division's programs and goals. Coordinates with enrollment management to identify entrepreneurial opportunities for recruitment, retention, and completion.
Develops and administers budgets in assigned areas of responsibility; allocates resources following budget approval; approves expenditures; identifies cost efficiencies. Pursues external funding, and partnerships to support college programming, facilities, and initiatives. Serves as a liaison to applicable external agencies, organizations, and businesses to foster public-private partnerships and grant programs.
Provides entrepreneurial leadership in the support of the College's vision for workforce and non-credit students.
Establishes a robust relationship with K-12 partners, expanding dual enrollment initiatives, early college programs, and readiness projects.
Ensures that the departments have appropriate administrative support.
Engages in and supports governance of the College; serves as a non-voting member of the Academic Assessment Committee.

Requirements:
Minimum of a Master's degree from an accredited institution and full-time teaching experience in one of the fields taught by the Business, Public Service, Communication & Languages division.
A history of creative and visionary leadership in academic initiatives at a department chair level or higher at a community college.
Demonstrated excellence in teaching at the collegiate level.
A demonstrated commitment to the multiple and complex goals of a community college, and a willingness to seek new methods of delivery to accomplish these goals.
Demonstrated commitment to student retention and completion.
Experience with integrated database systems and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Leadership that provides and supports student centered services with a commitment to diversity in the classroom and on campus.
Preferred Qualifications:
Doctorate degree strongly preferred.
Full-time college teaching experience preferred.
