Financial Aid Specialist
Job Description
As a Financial Aid Specialist GS-0301-11, your typical work assignments may include the following under supervision:
- Coordinate, administer, and direct SIPI's financial aid program (federal, state, and tribal) in accordance with regulatory guidelines.
- Provide first level supervision and provide oversight of the work of financial aid office employees.
- Manage financial aid program functions including the annual budget process for the financial aid program and submitting new programs for funding approval.
- Administer the system of application for and dissemination of financial aid awards and services for students who attend the college and monitor disbursements of financial aid.
- Advise students, parents, college personnel, and off-campus agencies on all aspects of financial aid.
- Serve as liaison for the Veteran's Administration, U.S. Department of Education, Title IV Programs (PELL, SEOG, and Work Study), and Federal, Tribal, State, and other local funding sources.

Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.
GS-11 LEVEL: You must have 1 year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-09 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes: Providing assistance to students, alumni applicants, staff, faculty and Tribal Funding Agencies regarding student financial aid data; determining financial need and eligibility for various, federal, state, tribal and other financial aid programs; monitoring disbursements of financial aid; interpreting federal policies and/or regulations related to Federal Student Aid and development of policies and procedures for the Financial Aid Office.

Applicant must possess a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level education leading to such as degree or LL.M., if related.
OR
Combination of successfully completed graduate level education beyond the second year of progressive graduate study and specialized experience that together meets 100% of the qualification requirements for the position.

Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year (52 weeks) of service at the next lower grade level.
Education
