General Statement of Duties:

The Assessment Specialist, in cooperation with the faculty, staff and deans, leads, develops, organizes, and implements, a comprehensive assessment plan and set of activities that connect assessment to teaching and learning and foster a student-centered culture of continuous improvement in pursuit of instructional excellence.

The Specialist is also responsible for managing and facilitating the review processes for the academic programs and departments and overseeing the assessment of the Institutional Student Learning Outcomes and co-curricular programs.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Deans, Faculty and Staff to support the development and refinement of measurable learning outcome and to develop methods to assess learning outcomes at the course and program level.
  • Organize and track faculty assessment tasks and maintain deadlines in conjunction with the pertinent Deans. Develop, refine, and facilitate schedules and processes for collecting and analyzing assessment data.
  • Oversee institutional outcomes assessment and the academic program and department review processes with the cooperation of the divisional Deans.
  • Design processes for tracking and maintaining assessment for learning in academic programs, co-curricular programs, and other college areas.
  • Record, store, manage, and disseminate assessment data, as appropriate.
  • Design and facilitate professional development on assessment for faculty and staff.
  • Assist with accreditation at the program and institutional level.
  • Collaborate with the Academic Senate in the development, implementation, and update of the academic assessment plan.
  • Collaborate with academic leadership, subject matter experts, and instructional and curriculum designers in course and program design and development processes.
  • Collaborate with the office of Institutional Research, faculty and other pertinent stakeholders in the analysis, interpretation, dissemination, and use of data results related to assessment and accreditation to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Participate in statewide assessment initiatives and attend assessment task force and other relevant state assessment meetings.
  • Stay abreast of education trends and accreditation, assessment, and quality improvement best practices.
  • Perform other professional duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • Three years of experience in academic assessment with strong quantitative and qualitative data analysis skills.
  • Experience with the development of assessment methods for learning outcomes and academic program review. Experience with the technologies used to facilitate the assessment process, such as Blackboard Outcomes, Tableau, and ePortfolio systems.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of best practices in assessment, academic program review, and co-curricular assessment.
  • Ability to analyze, interpret, apply, and synthesize quantitative and qualitative data and prepare and present reports effectively.
  • Ability to effectively engage diverse audiences in the arena of educational assessment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to rigorous academic standards.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to work with diverse members of the college community including students, faculty, staff, administrators, and external constituencies.
  • Strong commitment to strengthening diversity, equity, and inclusion in higher education.

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree or five years of experience demonstrating strong leadership in academic assessment and review.
  • Deep understanding of the equity considerations in academic assessment and program review.

Additional Information:


Salary: $82,000.00- $90,000.00
