Job Description

The Human Resources (HR) and Title IX and Civil Rights Compliance teams at the University of New England are dedicated to providing various support systems and development opportunities designed to retain a talented workforce and foster a productive environment. We are a cohesive team, working together to support one another on a day-to-day basis.
The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) will work closely with leadership and supervisors across the University to cultivate positive partnerships. The HRBP will assume various responsibilities to deliver strategic, value-added services that align the goals of management and employees with the university’s objectives.
The HRBP will coach leaders to determine the best solutions regarding policy interpretation, talent acquisition, training, compliance, employee engagement, diversity, equity, and inclusion, performance issues, workforce planning, change management, and conflict resolution to ensure alignment and consistency across the university. The HRBP will collaborate with other HR team members, such as Operations, Benefits, Training Development, Employee Relations, and Talent Acquisition, to ensure a unified approach to HR initiatives and best practices.

After successfully completing the initial probationary period, the HRBP will be offered hybrid flexible work options (must be able to attend meetings and regularly scheduled days on the Biddeford/Portland campus).

Responsibilities
  • Partners with department heads and management personnel, facilitating regular meetings to understand organizational objectives and goals while developing HR strategies to support their needs.
  • Provides consultation and guidance on a wide range of HR matters, including employee relations, policy interpretation, coaching and training, performance management, talent acquisition, and workforce planning, collaborating with appropriate HR team members as needed.
  • Collaborates with the HR team to design and implement programs and initiatives that promote employee engagement, retention, and development.
  • Analyzes HR metrics and trends with HR team members to identify opportunities for improvement in areas such as operations, benefits, and compensation
  • Acts as an advisor, providing guidance and support on HR policies, procedures, and practices. Develops, communicates, and trains units on new HR programs, policies, and procedures as needed.
  • Ensures compliance with all relevant employment laws and regulations
  • Represents and serves on committees as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 3 to 6 years human resources experience providing guidance and consultation to management and staff in the areas of employee/labor relations, compensation, employment, training, organizational development, diversity, affirmative action and employee benefits is required.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of human resources administration.
  • Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines including organizational diagnosis, employee relations, diversity, performance management, and employment laws.
  • Excellent interpersonal and critical thinking skills with the ability to exercise sound judgement when making recommendations that align with standards, practices, policies, procedures, regulation or government law.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and administer a broad range of tasks often with conflicting priorities.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to relay complex information in a manner understandable to a wide variety of individuals.
  • Ability to objectively coach employees and management through complex and challenging issues.
  • Strong organizational skills with demonstrated ability to plan, schedule and work both independently and in teams.
  • High degree of professionalism and discretion in contacts with management and team members.
  • Commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace.
  • Strong presentation and facilitation skills.
