The Assistant Director of the Radiologic Technology Program will support the Program Director in the leadership, organization, administration, assessment, and continuous review of the Radiologic Technology Program. This role is critical in maintaining program accreditation, ensuring instructional excellence, and advancing student success in accordance with JRCERT and ARRT standards. The Assistant Director will assist in the development of curriculum, faculty mentorship, and the coordination of clinical education. This position requires a strong commitment to maintaining high-quality academic and clinical standards and fostering a collaborative and supportive learning environment.
Specific Position Duties
Essential Faculty Duties:
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge in radiologic technology and teaching methodologies.
- Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to teach various courses, times, locations, and delivery methods, including online and dual credit courses as needed.
- Provide clear and challenging coursework to promote student growth and learning potential.
- Deliver syllabi, course policies, assignments, and assessments that reflect rigorous academic standards.
- Develop and administer assessments, including comprehensive final exams, to measure mastery of course objectives.
- Promote an inclusive and respectful learning environment that values the diversity and dignity of all students.
- Create a classroom environment conducive to academic honesty and intellectual exchange.
- Be prepared for and prompt to all class meetings, labs, and other scheduled activities.
- Present material in a clear, engaging, and understandable format.
- Provide timely and professional responses to student questions and concerns through various communication channels, including office hours and electronic communication.
- Assist in day-to-day departmental operations as directed by the department chair or program director.
- Submit required reports, schedules, and other documentation in a timely manner.
- Maintain effective working relationships with college faculty, staff, and community partners.
- Provide individual student advisement on degree plans and completion requirements.
- Participate actively in department outreach, recruiting, and marketing efforts.
- Engage in college functions, events, and community service activities.
Assistant Program Director-Specific Duties:
- Assist the Program Director in scheduling, curriculum planning, and program operations.
- Ensure compliance with program accreditation requirements, including ongoing assessment and self-study documentation.
- Participate in budget planning and management of program resources, including ordering supplies and managing clinical partnerships.
- Conduct class observations and provide feedback for faculty development.
- Support the Program Director in the hiring, training, and mentoring of adjunct faculty.
- Collaborate closely with the Clinical Coordinator to correlate and coordinate clinical education with didactic education and evaluate its effectiveness.
- Oversee student progress, address student concerns, and ensure equitable academic advising.
- Contribute to faculty evaluation processes, including annual performance reviews and assessments of instructional quality.
- Serve as a liaison between students, faculty, and clinical partners, addressing program-related issues and concerns.
- Participate in strategic planning and decision-making to enhance program growth and student success.
- Attend faculty meetings, advisory committee meetings, and program completion ceremonies, including Odessa College graduation.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Program Director or Dean of the School of Health & Sciences.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Radiologic Technology or a related field.
- ARRT certification and registration, or equivalent, in radiography.
- Three years of documented clinical experience in the professional discipline.
- Two years of experience as an instructor in a JRCERT-accredited radiologic technology program.
- Proficiency in curriculum design, program administration, academic advising, and assessment.
- Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with students, faculty, staff, and clinical partners.
- Demonstrated commitment to professional development and maintaining current knowledge of the field and educational methodologies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a leadership role within a radiologic technology program.
- Experience with program accreditation processes and standards (JRCERT).
- Experience in budget planning and resource management.
- Familiarity with Odessa College’s mission and vision and commitment to student success.
