Financial Aid Counselor
Job Description
The Financial Aid Counselor supports the mission of the College and the Financial Aid Office by ensuring the delivery of financial assistance for up to 1,200 enrolled students per academic year. Perform daily operations for processing financial assistance and special programs as assigned by the supervisor. Make financial assistance awards, decisions concerning student eligibility for assistance and other administrative services issues. Provides high quality services counseling and performs public speaking and outreach functions on and as needed basis.
Daily Operations
- Provides high quality advising to prospective and current students about financial aid, via in-person, by e-mail or by telephone. Reviews and verifies student’s financial aid factors to determine eligibility.
- Load ISIR records and analyze financial aid award packages. Records and documents all award decisions in the automated financial aid system.
- Resolves financial aid conflicting information
- Audits financial aid files, reviews financial aid reports for accuracy and responds to all financial aid inquires
- Assists with the Federal Work-Study (FWS) Program
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

- Demonstrated ability to utilize software and hardware, PC, mainframe and applications;
Education and Experience
- A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience or several years of experience in the Financial Aid profession or a related field.
