Coordinator, Human Services Counseling Field Placement

Job Description

Class Description

The purpose of this class is to serve as the liaison between employers, students, and the academic department and to ensure compliance with field placement requirements.  Provides academic and career counseling to program students and provides non-clinical supervision to students in the workplace.  Hosts job and transfer fairs.  Maintains data and create reports to ensure compliance with grant goals. 


Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Counseling, Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, Family Studies, Public Health, or a related field required, Master’s degree preferred. Three (3) years of full time experience working with community college students, under-resourced adults, or substance-using populations required. Familiarity with Alcohol and Drug Counselor or Peer certification and licensure processes preferred. Familiarity with best practices in student support and academic advising required.  Must have a valid Maryland driver’s license with moving violation points fewer than five (5).

Class Specific Essential Duties

  1. Provide career coaching for students. 
  2. Support the student by providing assistance with employment or internship opportunities.
  3. Coordinate a functional process within assigned College department or division.
  4. Monitor compliance with department policies and procedures.
  5. Maintain department records and files, as required.
  6. Serve as point of contact for internal and external organizations.
  7. Represent the College and/or department at events, as required.
  8. Prepare, analyze and provide reports on miscellaneous subjects, as requested.
