POSITION:  Accountant-Foundation and Grants – Full-Time - Lufkin

 

EMPLOYMENT DATE:  Until Filled

 

It is the intent of the basic job requirements, duties, and responsibilities that these minimum requirements should therefore, be referred to as a guide for, rather than a limitation to the services required.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The position will report to the Executive Director of Institutional Advancement and the Director of Grants & Sponsored Programs for job responsibilities and other College related activities as outlined in the Policies and Procedures Manual. Essential duties include but are not limited to the following:

 

  • Ensure accounts receivable and accounts payable entries are received and receipted correctly;
  • Prepare bank reconciliations on multiple foundation bank accounts;
  • Assist with the monthly and year-end close processes, and production of periodic and ad hoc financial reports for internal and external users;
  • Prepare and/or review monthly recurring and miscellaneous journal entries;
  • Review and/or prepare monthly account reconciliations;
  • Review and approve purchases for grants expenditures for adherence to grant guidelines, College policies, and governmental regulations;
  • Review and/or prepare grant related payroll authorization forms and time and effort reports;
  • Prepare and submit grant expenditure reports and reimbursement requests as required by funding agency;
  • Provide assistance to auditors, business office, and grant accountant, with the preparation of schedule of Federal Awards and Schedule of Expenditures of State Awards for the annual financial report;
  • Prepare and submit reports for monitoring visits and respond to agencies requesting information for desk reviews;
  • Attend AC Foundation Advisory Committee Meetings and Foundation Board Meetings to present monthly financial reports; and
  • Assist with fundraising events/activities, some events/activities will require work after regular office hours.

 

CONTRACT & SALARY:

$25.12 per hour in addition to excellent employee benefits. Proof of identity and eligibility to work in the United States must be verified for the successful candidate.

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Three year’s general ledger and account reconciliation accounting experience.
  • Knowledge of current generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Demonstrated ability to work with cross-functional teams.
  • Possess strong computer/technical skills and have experience with spread sheets, charts, and data bases.

 

Preferred:

  • Experience completing bank reconciliations and month end close procedures.
  • Grants, foundation, or restricted accounting experience.
  • Governmental, higher education, or non-profit accounting experience
  • Knowledge of OMB Uniform Guidance, Education Department General Administrative Regulations (EDGAR), and/or Title 2 of the Code of Federal Regulations - 2 CFR Part 200.
