About the Opportunity
Kalamazoo Valley is seeking a full-time Training and Development Coordinator as part of the college’s Institutional Effectiveness, Planning and Assessment department. The person in this position will be responsible for coordinating employee training and development, and performance management activities of the college. The individual in this position will also support the instructional mission of the institution and promote positive student and customer relations.
Specific responsibilities of this position include the following:
- Collaborate with all areas of the college to assess training needs and development comprehensive training opportunities. Develop and coordinate a training calendar. Utilize modern instructional design methods to develop training to meet the needs of all learning styles.
- Ensure compliance with federal and state training requirements.
- Facilitate new employee onboarding.
- In collaboration with college leadership, identify, recommend, develop and facilitate individualized training and development plans for employees.
- Develop, organize and facilitate large-scale professional development opportunities, such as collegewide summit, departmental and leadership retreats.
- Incorporate institutional initiatives, priorities, diversity, equity and inclusion goals into training and development activities.
- Assess the effectiveness of training and implement improvements. Recommend best practices, technology, resources, processes and continuous improvement solutions. Remain current of developments in training and instructional methodologies.
- Actively participate in committees and teams as assigned.
Skills and Knowledge Required
- Skill in developing and facilitating training programs.
- Skill in working with faculty and staff representing a variety of disciplines and institutional support areas.
- Skill in continuous quality improvement.
- Skill in project management.
- Skill and ability to complete effective assessments.
- Skill in written and verbal communication.
- Knowledge of staff development techniques and training practices.
- Knowledge and understanding of training goals, objectives and requirements.
- Knowledge and understanding of federal and state training requirements.
Minimum Qualifications:
A combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge and abilities. An example of this would be a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and two years of related experience in higher education, including involvement with institutional and program accreditation.
