Job Description Summary
This position is being hired for the Spring Semester for 2025. The rate of pay is $17.67/hr.Adult Education assists eligible students in developing basic skills that can be used to obtain employment and enable their success in college, the community, and the workplace. Adult Education provides a supportive, nurturing environment with lots of teacher attention; classes that start where the student is now and helps them get to the next level; offers several choices for many classes that prepare the student for real jobs; and ensures inclusion and belonging with classes that meet the needs of all.
The Part-time Instructional Specialist for ESOL follows established curriculum guidelines and lesson plans for students according to their English Proficiency levels. Instructors are encouraged to supplement instruction with appropriate materials according to the students' current needs.
Job Description
Responsibilities and Duties Include:
Delivers instruction to students based on curriculum guidelines and provides curriculum lesson plans.
Supports and promotes the college and departmental missions centered on excellence in teaching and learning through quality instruction, curriculum enhancement, and service.
Provides students with frequent, timely assessment of and clear feedback regarding academic performance.
Appropriately documents student progress and maintain accurate records such as attendance, grading and achievement of student learning outcomes.
Keeps timely student attendance records.
Attends recruiting events internally and externally to recruit eligible students to the program. Strictly honors the privacy, security, and confidentiality of student records and other sensitive information according to appropriate state, federal, and college regulations, policies, and procedures.
Complies with all published College Rules, procedures, guidelines, and laws/regulations governing public employees, including but not limited to those related to document retention and destruction, FERPA, and confidentiality.
Provides service excellence through courteous, informed, accessible and professional engagement.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Reports to: Professor and Coordinator, Adult Basic Education
QUALIFICATIONS
Required: An associate's degree in education, english, ESOL, linguistics, languages, or a related field with two (2) years of related work experience in TESL/TESOL methods, ESL/EFL/ESOL, or classroom experience in language instruction and/or a combination of education and experience equal to four (4) years.
Other: A criminal background check will be conducted.
Preferred: A (one-year) certificate in TESL/TESOL; a bachelor's degree in education, english, ESOL, linguistics, languages, or a related field with two (2) years of experience in TESL/TESOL methods, ESL/EFL/ESOL, or classroom experience of any language instruction.

Relationship Management – able to personally provide high level of interactive service to others, building relationships and addressing identified needs.
Results Orientation – proven ability to set and exceed established targets.
Systems & Software - proficient level of knowledge of Microsoft Office and/or relevant position software programs.
Detail Oriented - Proven accuracy and attention to detail.
Multi-task - Ability to expeditiously organize, coordinate, manage, prioritize, and perform multiple tasks simultaneously to swiftly assess a situation, determine a logical course of action, and apply the appropriate response.
