Job Summary
The Department of Pediatrics, Division of Infectious Diseases, at the University of Michigan has an immediate opening for a junior or mid-level faculty appointment. The Pediatric Infectious Diseases division currently consists of 9 faculty members and provides the full range of comprehensive inpatient and outpatient consultative services for both immunocompetent and immunocompromised patients. In addition to the general Pediatric Infectious Diseases consult service, our division also includes a Pediatric Transplant Infectious Diseases consult service and is closely aligned with the hospital system's Antimicrobial Stewardship and Infection Prevention and Epidemiology programs. The division is committed to training fellows in our ACGME-accredited Pediatric Infectious Diseases Fellowship Program, as well as medical students and pediatric residents.
The position includes a 0.25 FTE appointment as an Associate Hospital Epidemiologist. The Pediatric Associate Hospital Epidemiologist is a key member of the Infection Prevention and Epidemiology team at University of Michigan Health. The candidate will work closely with the University of Michigan Health Medical Director of Infection Prevention and Epidemiology to achieve pediatric-specific quality and safety goals and support health system priorities. In this role, the physician will provide clinical support to the infection prevention team, conduct quality improvement work in prevention of healthcare-associated infections including device-associated infections and surgical site infections, and lead work in emerging infectious diseases preparedness and diagnostic stewardship. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and leadership skills. Prior hospital infection prevention experience is welcome.
Required Qualifications*
Successful candidates will have an MD, DO, or MD/PhD degree and will be board certified/eligible in Pediatric Infectious Diseases, having completed formal Pediatric Infectious Diseases training at an accredited fellowship training program following a residency in Pediatrics or Internal Medicine/Pediatrics. This full-time Pediatric Infectious Diseases Faculty Physician position will provide clinical activity supporting the division's inpatient and outpatient clinical services. Excellence in clinical care of children with infectious diseases is expected. Scholarly activity in the form of an emerging or active research program, clinical care quality improvement and safety efforts, or participation in clinical trials is welcomed.
