KPMG is currently seeking a Senior Associate, Data Governance to join our Consulting organization.
Responsibilities:
- Utilize extensive sector-specific and business-process knowledge to drive data governance and enterprise data management (EDM) strategy, transformation, and solution design engagements. Help clients understand the broader data governance journey and implications, ensuring robust and effective data management solutions.
- Gather and analyze client and market data through interviews, surveys, workshops, and market research. Develop and articulate requirements for data governance frameworks and EDM practices, including the integration and implementation of market leading tools such as Collibra, Informatica IDMC, Alation, Atlan, Atacama).
- Assess current data governance maturity levels using models such as (DCAM, DAMA DMM, CMMI DMM, KPMG ADM), and translate these into structured strategies for capability development, covering role and process design, data quality management, metadata management, and technology road mapping. Clearly communicate data governance concepts to non-technical team members.
- Build and enhance client relationships by engaging with various levels of client team members. Employ a data-driven approach to design and review all aspects of an organization-specific data governance and EDM target operating model with clients.
- Research and convey data governance and EDM requirements specific to different sectors and processes. Incorporate these requirements into solution designs, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Apply data governance and EDM concepts to address business problems, demonstrating how disciplined data management can enhance business value. Lead and facilitate various information-gathering exercises, such as collaborative workshops, leadership interviews, surveys, and external market research, to evaluate readiness for data governance and transformation strategies.
- Support project leaders in tracking and communicating project risks, budgets, rates, and launch/closeout activities. Administer work papers and collaboration sites in coordination with data governance and EDM teams, ensuring successful project execution.
- Act with integrity, professionalism, and personal responsibility to maintain KPMG's respectful and courteous work environment.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of three years of experience in data governance, enterprise data management, or a similar field within a professional services firm, internal strategy/EDM group, or comparable environment. Experience in strategy and/or data management consulting is highly valued.
- Bachelor's degree in a technical or quantitative field from an accredited institution (Master's or MBA preferred), with knowledge in areas such as data governance, data quality, metadata management, master data management, data architecture, and data management principles.
- Proven expertise in designing and implementing data governance frameworks and EDM solutions, with strong project management skills. Demonstrated ability to leverage market leading data governance tools for data cataloging, data lineage, data quality monitoring, and policy management.
- Strong business consulting acumen in non-invasive operationalization of data governance and EDM principles to solve business issues, coupled with a solid understanding of business operations, processes, and data compliance requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to manage engagements and interface with senior management internally and with clients. Significant experience in project management, client management, and executive communication (e.g., interviews, workshop management, business writing).
- Deep sector-specific or process-specific experience in data governance strategy and EDM transformation. In-depth knowledge of data management and data governance best practices and regulatory landscapes.
- Expertise in organization design, governance framework design/execution, workstream management, and strong business consulting skills. Extensive project management, client handling, and executive communication capabilities (e.g., interviews, workshop management, business writing).
- Ability to travel as needed.
