Position Summary
Reporting to the Director of Infrastructure Services, the Assistant Director, Infrastructure Operations, assists the Director with implementation, maintenance, support, and monitoring of all aspects of the University data center facilities and communications closets, and supports operations and administration of voice and data network components located on all campus locations.
This position is responsible for identification and mitigation of single points of failure, process improvements, automation opportunities, and other factors that increase the availability and resiliency of the network. Additionally, this position analyzes network feedback and recommends upgrades and changes.
This position may require occasional evening, weekend, and holiday hours.
Essential Functions
- Ensures the network is in a good operational state.
- Uses various enterprise monitoring tools to review anomalies and alerts related to the enterprise network, and ensures final integration of network elements into monitoring systems.
- Provides first-level guidance/direction to the network operations team, network engineers, consultants, and other IT staff members and ensures that tickets are resolved in a timely manner.
- Improves the wired and wireless network by analyzing client and system feedback.
- Ensures all network hardware is inventoried and has the latest operational software.
- Responds to internal/external requests regarding network expansion and additional services.
- Works with team members and users to create a complete package of documentation and training materials.
- Works with team members to analyze the nature of user problem reports and requests and develop the most appropriate solution.

Management Responsibilities
Supervises the work of other Fordham employees who are individual contributors. Responsible for hiring, training and developing, managing performance and administering corrective action. Has significant input in compensation decisions.
Additional Functions
- Provides expertise on campus networking to departments, campus task forces, and other committees.
- Plans and implements changes to the wireless network based on collected data and tickets.
Required Qualifications: Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree
- Minimum of five years of experience in infrastructure operations
- Minimum of one year of experience managing technical staff
- IT Information Library Foundations Certification (ITIL)
- Experience in all major network technologies such as switching / routing, WAN, WLAN, cloud-based network services, and SD-WAN.
Required Qualifications: Knowledge and Skills
- Working knowledge Google Suite, MS Office Suite (Windows, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, Visio).
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and identify functional and technical opportunities, risks, and issues and direct others on the appropriate course of action.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Strong analytical and technical problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage own workflow and work outcomes independently.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Successful candidates should have a knowledge of and commitment to the goals of Jesuit Education.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated understanding of higher education’s technical, business, and cultural environment.
Minimum Starting Salary: $98,500
Maximum Starting Salary: $123,000
Note: Salary is commensurate with qualifications, experience, and skills.
