Join our highly engaged Surgical Acute II team (7th floor) as Supervisor, Patient Care RN at Scripps Health Mercy San Diego. You'll join a team of skilled medical professionals who provide superior health services in a caring environment. The Scripps Health team is dedicated to making a positive, measurable difference in the health of individuals in the communities we serve.
What will do you?
o Ensure nursing practice reflects established standards of care and practice and a culture that promotes patient safety.
o Under the general direction of the Patient Care Manager, shares leadership responsibilities for the nursing unit, including managing daily staffing plans.
o Ensure appropriate and timely use of bed placement technology and adherence to care processes for bed placement/patient transfer/patient transport/room cleaning and patient discharge.
o Ensure the safe transition of patients through the continuum of care to include active participation of nursing staff in planning and coordinating patient care, and direct hand-off to next appropriate level of care.
Our surgical department provides care to general surgical patients including bariatric, ortho, spinal, urology, medical, telemetry, and trauma. This is a high-functioning unit that boasts exceptionally high employee engagement and patient satisfaction scores.
The following are not eligible for hiring incentives:
- Internal candidates
- Rehires that left Scripps less than 3 years ago
In order to remain eligible for your retention incentive the following criteria must be met:
- Must remain in original hired FTE Status and Shift (if specified in offer letter)
- Must remain in original department/specialty
- Must remain in original Job Title
- Transfers to other locations will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis and may result in forfeiting remaining incentive bonus unless specifically noted in your offer letter.

Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills:
* Two years applicable clinical experience, one of which in a leadership role.
* Requires excellent skills in communication, problem-solving, team development, planning and follow-through.
* Ability to exercise the authority and responsibility for assigned services based on the scope of the organization and complexity of patient care.
* Graduate of an accredited program.
Required Certification/Registration:
* Maintains current California RN license.
* Current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider and all competencies/certifications required of the charge RN on the unit.
Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification:
* BSN and/or certification in area of specialty if applicable.
