- Academic Level B, offering a base salary of $118,390 - $140,586p.a. plus leave loading and 17% employer’s contribution to superannuation

We currently invite applications for a Lecturer in Architecture with expertise in one or more of the following:
- Practical experience in Designing on Country;
- Development of architectural curriculum that incorporates Indigenous knowledge, Designing on Country, and Cultural Competency;
- A research profile that demonstrates a proficiency in cultural competence, community engagement, and qualitative research methods.
As the successful candidate you will work closely with Associate Dean Indigenous Michael Mossman to: develop new curriculum that integrates Indigenous knowledge and design approaches into the Bachelor and Masters degree programs; coordination and delivery in whole or part of selected core and elective units of study, including design studios where appropriate; assist in the administration of Dr. Mossman’s ARC Discovery Indigenous grant “Indigenizing the Built Environment’; and conduct research related to this grant as part of the wider project team.
About you

- a PhD in Architecture;
- a detailed understanding of the principles and practice of Designing on Country, an ability to develop architectural curriculum that incorporates Indigenous knowledge, and the demonstration of Cultural Competency in research practice;
- Successful track record of, and/or high levels of ambition in teaching architecture at university level, including in design studios;
- knowledge of the National Competencies for Architects Performance Criteria;
- evidence of a promising future research trajectory and the potential to publish in top tier international refereed journals;
- a collegial approach and willingness to contribute to academic governance, engagement and administration.
Desired but not required:
- Indigenous Australian and Torres Strait Islander Australian cultural background;
- Experience in working with Indigenous communities and/or practitioners.
- Reside in the Sydney Metropolitan Area at least 5 years practical experience as a Registered Architect

Australian Temporary Residents currently employed at the University of Sydney may be considered for a fixed term contract for the length of their visa, depending on the requirements of the hiring area and the position.
