Job Summary
The Chabot-Las Positas Community College District is seeking a PT Instructor, LGBTQ Studies for Las Positas College. Applicants will be expected to provide instruction in: LGBT 1: Introduction to LGBTQ Studies, which offers a broad exploration of queer theory and its relationship to gay and lesbian studies, feminist theory, and intersectionality. Emphasis on theoretical and philosophical underpinnings of queer theory, social construction and essentialism, postmodernist theory, politics, LGBT studies and queer culture. Examines LGBTQ issues from a psychological, bio-medical, sociological, political, racial, and sexual perspectives.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Deliver coherent lectures;
- Teach with imagination, vigor, and clarity;
- Create assignments that serve instructional goals;
- Create exams and/or other evaluative assignments that test for mastery of course content;
- Create course materials that serve instructional goals;
- Organize course content so that it encompasses authorized course outlines;
- Identify basic and essential concepts and develop materials and strategies that assist students in understanding core subject matter;
- Prepare carefully and organize a course which adheres to the objectives and suggested materials listed in the course outline;
- Meet deadlines for submittal of syllabi, census rosters, and grades;
- Participate in program and subject area improvement tasks, such as assessing Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs).
Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s in the interdisciplinary area OR Master’s in one of the disciplines included in the interdisciplinary area and upper division or graduate course work in at least one other constituent discipline.
Evidence of understanding of and responsiveness to the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, racial and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practices within the classroom.

Desirable Qualifications:
- College teaching experience.
- Experience using Canvas LMS.
- Experience with hy-flex teaching modality or willingness to be trained in the hy-flex teaching modality.
